VDC/BIM Plumbing Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Collect, prepare, validate, and implement 3D data tailored to customer and project requirements, aligning with the company's growth objectives.

• Collaborate with onsite project/customer engineers, architects, or owners to discuss changes and modifications throughout the entirety of virtual design projects.

• Acquire pre-construction specification data and execute 3D project designs in collaboration with Construction Engineers, Architects, or General Contractors.

• Examine specifications or sample layouts to execute customer design initiatives or projects effectively.

• Make independent decisions regarding pipe routing to enhance field labor efficiency and prevent clashes during virtual construction meetings.

• Conduct regular and ad hoc audits and analyses to identify errors and gaps within 3D data.

• Ensure that work meets the needs of clients and collaborators.

• Engage in internal communications, liaise with external vendors, and provide clients with feedback for improvements in business processes.

• Utilize critical thinking skills when assessing design data for accuracy and feasibility.

• Recognize and understand both internal and external expectations for information and deliverables.

• Offer direction and support to less experienced team members.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in a trade (e.g., Plumbing, General Contractor, journeyman, apprenticeship, etc.) or a degree in Mechanical Engineering focused on mechanical construction is preferred.

• Familiarity with Construction practices (both pre & post) for Mechanical and Plumbing/Piping Systems.

• Significant experience with the pre-construction coordination (BIM) process is highly preferred.

• Working knowledge of Building Codes pertaining to Mechanical and Plumbing/Piping Systems.

• Capable of analyzing critical building & blueprint specification data to make informed and independent decisions for the pre-construction virtual design team.

• Strong proficiency in computer-aided design software such as Revit, Navisworks Manage, Autodesk Construction Cloud, etc., as well as Microsoft Office is required.

• Experience with Point Cloud Scan workflows is preferred.

• A high-speed internet connection is required for remote/hybrid candidates.

• Flexibility in scheduling may be necessary for onboarding, training, and team meetings for remote candidates.
