PDF Annotation & Transcription Expert – Japanese

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan, +3 more countries.

📋 Description

• Review and verify the provided PDF annotation tasks

• Ensure pages are in Japanese, readable, contain genuine content, and exclude personal information

• Identify and outline every significant page area

• Assign component types and establish reading-order indexes

• Connect regions to associated figures or tables using parent component identifiers

• Accurately transcribe all text, including Japanese scripts and handwritten material

• Report any illegible source areas

• Document language, type of document, source, page dimensions, and metadata regarding tables, formulas, and handwriting

• Evaluate the work of colleagues comprehensively as a seasoned Japanese expert

⛳️ Requirements

• Native Japanese speaker with comprehensive mastery of kanji, hiragana, katakana, furigana, and variant character forms

• Professional background in interpretation, journalism, transcription, translation, editorial tasks, or similar document-intensive roles

• Strong focus on character-level precision and attention to detail

• Ability to consistently apply a taxonomy across numerous pages

• Familiarity with vertical text, multi-column newspapers, examination papers, and handwritten documents

• Fluent Japanese language proficiency is essential

• Must be capable of working as an independent contractor

• H1-B and STEM OPT candidates are not eligible
