VDC Project Manager – Mechanical

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Supervise BIM/VDC coordination for mechanical scopes from initiation to installation.

• Assist in mechanical project pricing, estimation, and changes in scope.

• Ensure that mechanical models, layouts, and prefabrication drawings comply with industry standards and field requirements.

• Collaborate closely with mechanical contractors, project managers, and field teams to deliver exceptional VDC support.

• Manage the VDC/BIM process for mechanical scopes, covering everything from project setup to execution and final closeout.

• Oversee mechanical model development, coordination efforts, and installation documentation.

• Build and nurture the project team to optimize performance, offering purpose, direction, and motivation.

• Foster and sustain positive relationships with stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status and changes.

• Supervise and maintain project schedules in partnership with the Project Coordinator and VDC Specialists.

• Identify potential risks and establish measures to mitigate them.

• Lead BIM Coordination Meetings to ensure mechanical layouts are in harmony with other trades.

• Create accurate and strategic cost estimates and project proposals.

• Validate constructability, resolve field issues, and assist installation teams through site visits.

• Evaluate project progress and adjust scope, timelines, and costs as required.

• Monitor and allocate resources effectively to enhance project efficiency and maximize deliverables.

• Ensure mechanical models and prefabrication drawings fulfill contractual and field installation criteria.

• Conduct clash detection, routing optimization, and conduit coordination using Navisworks and Revit.

• Collaborate with mechanical contractors to devise prefabrication strategies, spool drawings, and material takeoffs.

• Review shop drawings, submittals, and specifications to guarantee compliance and precision.

• Act as the primary technical liaison for mechanical contractors, aiding in cost estimation, scope development, and tracking change orders for mechanical VDC work.

• Contribute to marketing initiatives, proposal creation, and industry opportunities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in VDC/BIM project management specifically for mechanical construction.

• In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems, plumbing, ductwork, piping HVAC, and best practices for installation.

• Proficient in software such as Navisworks, Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Procore, and 3D modeling tools.

• Leadership experience in team management, including overseeing BIM specialists, remote teams, and coordinating project efforts.

• Ability to work collaboratively with mechanical contractors, project managers, and foremen.

• Skill in analyzing modeling challenges and providing feasible solutions.
