This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan.
• Oversee Rapid Research studies from start to finish, providing insights within 1–2 weeks or through an accelerated 1-week sprint.
• Advise on research methodologies and project scope while creating kickoff documents and moderator guides.
• Facilitate both remote and in-person interviews, unmoderated studies, and heuristic evaluations.
• Perform literature reviews and conduct competitive analyses.
• Provide end-of-day session summaries and guide stakeholder alignment on key insights.
• Analyze results and compile final reports with actionable recommendations.
• Present findings during stakeholder readouts.
• Establish trusted relationships with stakeholders and offer consultative support.
• Collaborate with recruiting teams for participant screening and scheduling.
• Assist with Japanese-language studies and localization as the regional point of contact for Japan/APAC.
• Manage multiple concurrent studies throughout preparation, fieldwork, and reporting phases.
• Enhance internal research processes and best practices.
• Cultivate research and consultative skills while contributing to the knowledge library and internal training programs.
• Participate in Custom Research projects, including focus groups, diary studies, benchmarking, surveys, card sorting, contextual inquiries, and Critical User Journey audits.
• Minimum of 4 years of practical experience in qualitative UX or market research, including leading studies from inception to completion.
• Native or fluent proficiency in Japanese.
• Business-level proficiency in English, capable of moderating sessions and producing deliverables in both languages.
• Experience in partnering with clients or stakeholders in a consulting or agency setting, or equivalent research experience.
• Ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities across multiple studies, and meet tight deadlines.
• Proficiency in conducting in-depth interviews, unmoderated studies, heuristic evaluations, literature reviews, and competitive analyses.
• Strong presentation capabilities, including creating decks and presenting findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
• Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, accuracy, and time management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, coupled with strong interpersonal abilities.
• Comfort with online and remote research tools like Google Meet, Zoom, dscout, and GSuite.
• A responsive, service-oriented, and client-focused mindset.
• A curious, enthusiastic, and adaptable nature with the ability to excel in a fast-paced problem-solving environment.
• A self-motivated quick learner capable of thriving with minimal supervision.
• A collaborative team player with a sense of ownership and follow-through.

• Willingness to collaborate across APAC, EMEA, and US time zones, including occasional schedule flexibility and extended hours.
• Capability to work at a computer for extended durations.
• Must reside in Japan.
• Must possess current work authorization in Japan; AnswerLab cannot sponsor visas.
