University Assistant, Predoctoral – Contemporary History

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Austria.

📋 Description

• Engage in research and teaching within the domain of Cultural, Knowledge, and Gender History.

• Conduct classes independently in Bachelor's, Teacher Training, and Master's degree programs in History.

• Participate in the editing or publication of academic works and other initiatives of the Chair.

• Contribute to events organized under the Chair’s scope.

• Assist with university administrative tasks and the coordination of teaching activities.

• Pursue further academic qualifications through dissertation work, publications, and participation in conferences.

• Aid in the dissemination of research findings to the general public.

⛳️ Requirements

• Completed diploma or master’s degree in History or Cultural Studies.

• Significant and proven knowledge of contemporary gender history or the history of knowledge.

• A dissertation proposal focused on contemporary cultural, knowledge, or gender history.

• Ideally, a thematic emphasis on the history of human rights, migration, or social movements.

• Familiarity with transnational and/or entangled history approaches.

• Capability to assist in communicating research findings to the general public.

• Excellent proficiency in both German and English.

• Proficient IT skills.

• Strong teamwork abilities.

• Effective organizational skills.

• Application materials should include a letter of intent, a PhD project description of up to 5 pages, an academic CV/list of publications, evidence of teaching experience if applicable, and official confirmation of the completed Master's/Diploma degree.
