Underwriting Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Underwrite new business submissions, renewals, and endorsements.

• Manage the growth and profitability of an underwriting territory.

• Utilize internal and external data and reporting to aid in decision-making.

• Document underwriting files with adequate detail and clarity.

• Provide performance reports and action plans for the territory to leadership.

• Collaborate with sales, claims, loss control, and agency partners.

• Conduct agency visits to promote product line benefits and initiatives for growth/incentives.

• Support the implementation of agency action plans.

• Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines, best practices, rate plans, and the Letter of Authority.

• Mentor new associates and Underwriter I associates while aiding in their training.

• Participate in committees and enterprise-wide initiatives.

• Navigate conflicts and contribute to team solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial multi-line underwriting.

• Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

• Ability to mentor and facilitate team development.

• Comfort with underwriting systems and a commitment to continuous learning.

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Insurance, or a related field (preferred).

• Completion of a General Insurance certificate and the Associate in Underwriting program (preferred).

• Must reside in Ohio.
