Underwriting Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Underwrite new business submissions, renewals, and endorsements.

• Manage the growth and profitability of an underwriting territory.

• Utilize both internal and external data, along with reporting, to support decision-making.

• Ensure underwriting files are documented with adequate detail and clarity.

• Provide territory performance reports and actionable plans to leadership.

• Collaborate with sales, claims, loss control, and agency partners.

• Conduct agency visits to promote product line advantages and growth/incentive initiatives.

• Assist in executing agency action plans.

• Uphold compliance with underwriting guidelines, best practices, rate plans, and the Letter of Authority.

• Mentor new associates and Underwriter I team members, aiding in their training.

• Engage in committees and enterprise initiatives.

• Navigate conflicts and contribute to team-based solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial multi-line underwriting.

• Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

• Capability to mentor and support team development.

• Comfort with underwriting systems and a commitment to continuous learning.

• Preferred education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Insurance, or a related field.

• Preferred training: Completion of a certificate in General Insurance and the Associate in Underwriting program.

• Must reside in Ohio to effectively cover the territory.
