This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.
• Lead and oversee regional operations for Workers’ Compensation underwriting to achieve objectives related to profitable growth, retention, and production.
• Manage underwriting strategies, portfolio oversight, pricing discipline, and risk assessment across the designated territory.
• Drive the production of profitable new business and maintain renewal retention.
• Evaluate Workers’ Compensation exposures, which include payroll, class codes, loss histories, experience modification factors, operational controls, return-to-work initiatives, and industry-specific risks.
• Ensure adherence to company guidelines, delegated authority parameters, state regulations, NCCI standards, and relevant independent state bureaus.
• Formulate and implement regional business plans in collaboration with executive leadership and distribution teams.
• Lead, mentor, and cultivate underwriting talent within the team.
• Act as the senior underwriting referral authority for complex or large accounts.
• Establish and nurture relationships with retail agents, wholesale brokers, program administrators, and strategic distribution partners.
• Travel within the region for agency meetings, stewardship reviews, underwriting audits, business development, and industry events.
• Collaborate with claims, actuarial, finance, product, compliance, and operations teams.
• Monitor underwriting outcomes, submission flow, pricing trends, loss ratios, renewal retention, and agency performance.
• Identify market trends, competitive intelligence, and strategic growth opportunities.
• Facilitate workflow optimization, underwriting automation, analytics, AI-enabled underwriting tools, and operational scalability.
• Ensure timely and professional service delivery to agents, brokers, and internal partners.
• Engage in strategic planning for regional growth, staffing needs, underwriting appetite, product expansion, and infrastructure development.
• Execute other assigned leadership and underwriting responsibilities.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in Workers’ Compensation underwriting.
• Previous leadership experience managing underwriting teams, territories, or regional operations within the Workers’ Compensation sector.
• Strong technical understanding of NCCI and state bureau regulations.
• Proficiency in experience modification analysis.
• Experience with payroll and class code review.
• Capability in loss trend assessment.
• Familiarity with medical and indemnity cost drivers.
• Knowledge of large deductible and loss-sensitive structures.
• Experience in multi-state Workers’ Compensation underwriting.
• Proven ability to build and manage profitable Workers’ Compensation books of business.
• Strong relationship management skills with brokers, agencies, and distribution networks.
• Proficient in analyzing underwriting, actuarial, claims, and operational data.
• Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and team development abilities.
• Capable of thriving in a fast-paced, growth-focused environment.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant professional experience.
• Willingness to travel up to 30% within the assigned region and to corporate offices as required.
