This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Assist the underwriter in the decision-making process by evaluating and analyzing underwriting applications and forms.
• Examine applicant information and assess risk factors.
• Ensure adherence to underwriting guidelines.
• Collaborate with various departments to collect essential information.
• Perform data analysis and contribute to the overall risk assessment process.
• Evaluate the quality, quantity, and profitability of highly complex risks being underwritten.
• Prepare and present reports to management.
• Review submission and account information in conjunction with the underwriter.
• Oversee the quoting, binding, and issuance process.
• Research and apply relevant rates, coverages, and policy forms.
• Issue notices of cancellation, nonrenewal, and reinstatement.
• Build and maintain relationships with underwriters, producers, brokers, and reinsurers.
• Keep accurate file documentation in line with company guidelines.
• Maintain agency and/or broker relations with key producers within the assigned territory.
• Manage special underwriting projects and other assigned responsibilities.
• Bachelor’s degree required; Business Administration or Risk Management preferred; relevant discipline or equivalent work experience will be considered.
• 1+ years of relevant experience or experience in a comparable role.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects effectively.
• Advanced technical proficiency in underwriting.
• Comprehensive understanding of insurance and underwriting principles, practices, and procedures.
• Basic requirements for state P&C and/or surplus line licenses.
• Associate in Insurance Services (AIS) is preferred.
• Familiarity with insurance regulations, risk assessment, compliance, documentation, policy language, data analysis, and portfolio management.
• Proficient in negotiation, presentation, relationship building, project management, time management, and event marketing skills.
