This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Oversee the prompt execution of underwriting and portfolio management activities across the Bank’s Commercial portfolio.
• Collaborate with the Chief Credit Officer to manage overall risk within the Bank’s loan portfolio.
• Ensure that commercial credit and collection policies, processes, and procedures effectively mitigate portfolio risks.
• Coordinate the management and resolution of problematic credits.
• Propose strategies, lending objectives, and the overall direction and operations of Commercial underwriting.
• Engage with the CCO and Deputy CCO to achieve loan quality, risk rating, and reporting objectives.
• Achieve compliance benchmarks for annual reviews, risk ratings, covenant compliance, and collateral monitoring.
• Authorize credit requests within the limits of delegated authority, encompassing new business, modifications, and renewals.
• Develop and mentor the portfolio management and underwriting team; lead both underwriters and portfolio managers.
• Collaborate with the executive team and finance on budgeting, expense management, performance objectives, and market trend analysis.
• Review files for credit and collateral documentation, regulatory compliance, and adherence to loan policies.
• Compile written analyses on substantial loans, aggregate lending against borrower indebtedness, complex loans, and underperforming loans.
• Identify problem loans as well as those that meet non-accrual or charge-off criteria.
• Analyze customer financial statements, discounted cash flows, capital rate analyses, and internal asset assessments.
• Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) along with additional training in lending, compliance, and auditing.
• A minimum of 8–10 years’ experience in bank lending, underwriting, loan review, and/or compliance, or equivalent educational background in bank lending and loan review/compliance procedures and policies.
• Senior-level expertise in all aspects of commercial lending.
• Flexibility to work remotely through a digital-first approach.
