This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee, mentor, and coach Underwriters in both technical and professional competencies.
• Direct underwriting operations while providing support to a team of Underwriters.
• Track and report on portfolio performance metrics.
• Implement strategic pricing and growth initiatives.
• Manage compliance with underwriting guidelines, rating standards, and insurance regulations.
• Collaborate with Program Managers to enhance and expand designated programs.
• Work alongside Sales Executives and Program Managers to ensure effective communication and alignment.
• Build and sustain relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Design, coordinate, and participate in underwriting training sessions.
• Encourage a culture of continuous improvement.
• Identify root-cause issues and outline resolution strategies.
• Suggest and execute improvements in workflow, productivity, growth, profitability, and quality.
• Monitor and report on Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to key stakeholders.
• Engage in quality control processes to maintain high standards.
• Gather and analyze market intelligence and trends.
• Underwrite as necessary, which includes risk selection, pricing, and coverage evaluation according to underwriting guidelines.
• Occasional travel may be required on a limited basis.
• Bachelor's degree.
• Over 7 years of experience in commercial insurance underwriting.
• At least 3 years of direct supervisory and/or management experience.
• Advanced technical underwriting knowledge along with a comprehensive understanding of insurance practices.
• Proficient in data analytics to assess product profitability, rate achievement, and SLAs.
• Capability to establish and meet goals while securing buy-in from management, peers, and team members.
• Strong interpersonal skills for effective interaction and achieving objectives.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation abilities.
• Proficient analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Highly detail-oriented with superior organizational capabilities, including managing multiple responsibilities concurrently.
• Professional insurance designation(s) are preferred.
• Insurance license as per state requirements is preferred.
• Base salary ranging from $120,000 to $150,000, plus an annual cash bonus.
