📋 Description

• Manage the underwriting process for intricate individual disability income cases from start to finish.

• Act as a subject matter expert in product knowledge and underwriting through field training, industry events, conferences, and continuous partner education.

• Provide competitive underwriting decisions while upholding profitability and morbidity standards.

• Offer service and consultation to agents, brokers, field office personnel, and business partners regarding underwriting and risk-related issues.

• Clearly and effectively communicate underwriting decisions.

• Evaluate risks, collect pertinent information, and make informed choices in complicated or unclear situations.

• Develop and sustain relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

• Drive process improvements, advocate for change, and promote operational excellence.

• Mentor and guide less experienced underwriters, providing them with technical support.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.

• Over 5 years of experience in underwriting individual disability insurance.

• Approval authority of $15K or more in individual disability insurance underwriting.

• Bachelor’s degree (preferred qualification).

• More than 7 years of experience in underwriting individual disability insurance (preferred qualification).

• Experience in a fast-paced work environment (preferred qualification).

• Approval limits of $20K or more for IDI, $50K or more for BOE, and $750K or more for Buy Sell without needing a second signature (preferred qualification).

• Completion of exams towards industry designations such as DIA/DIF, AALU/FALU, FMLI, etc. (preferred qualification).
