
Underwriting Assistant – Inland Marine

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Prepare, issue, and process submissions for new business, renewals, and endorsements for inland marine accounts, primarily utilizing AAIS forms.
• Support underwriters with quoting, rating, and binding coverage.
• Collect necessary information to expedite the submission process.
• Identify and apply the appropriate AAIS forms and manuscript endorsements for each risk.
• Maintain complete and audit-ready policy files.
• Monitor renewal timelines and request updated exposure data.
• Ensure prompt turnaround on renewal policies.
• Collaborate with agents and brokers regarding policy status updates, outstanding requirements, and documentation requests.
• Evaluate submissions and issued policies for accuracy and completeness.
• Guarantee compliance with state filing and form requirements.
• Keep accurate policy and underwriting files within Ledgebrook's policy administration system.
• Assist Thomas Klingner and the Inland Marine team with process enhancements and other initiatives as needed.
• Over 3 years of experience as an Underwriting Assistant, specifically with Inland Marine coverages.
• Practical experience with AAIS forms and the AAIS forms library.
• Strong understanding of policy issuance, endorsement processing, and the renewal lifecycle.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Capability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fully remote, nationwide role.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, with a willingness to learn new underwriting and policy administration systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with confidence in direct correspondence with agents and brokers.
• Previous experience in underwriting or supporting contractors' equipment and builders' risk.
• Familiarity with policy administration and rating systems used in commercial P&C.
• Progress towards or attainment of an insurance industry designation (e.g., AU, INS, CPCU).
• A genuine interest in InsurTech or technology-driven insurance enterprises.
