Senior Specialist – Loan Underwriting

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Assess the financial information of borrowers, their repayment ability, collateral adequacy, and overall credit quality.

• Review and verify appraisal reports for precision and compliance with set guidelines.

• Evaluate loan applications and make approval or denial decisions based on business unit criteria.

• Collect necessary information to facilitate informed lending decisions.

• Assess risk levels and provide recommendations for approvals.

• Consistently apply underwriting standards throughout the process.

• Recognize and address potential risks effectively.

• Uphold robust documentation practices.

• Address inquiries from both internal and external customers.

• Collaborate with lending, operations, and risk management teams to ensure prompt and high-quality credit decisions.

• Provide training, delegate tasks, and review the work of junior staff members.

• Execute other responsibilities that support departmental and business unit objectives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Generally requires over 7 years of relevant experience.

• May necessitate vocational or technical training.

• Possess advanced knowledge of operational procedures and tools gained from extensive experience.

• Might require obtaining and/or maintaining NMLS registration.

• Capability to analyze borrower financial data, repayment capacity, collateral strength, and overall creditworthiness.

• Proficient in reviewing and validating appraisal reports for accuracy and compliance with established guidelines.

• Familiarity with underwriting standards, internal policies, investor requirements, and regulatory guidelines.

• Skill in determining risk levels and making approval recommendations.

• Strong documentation capabilities.

• Ability to perform under limited supervision in non-standard situations.

• Competence in training, delegating tasks, and reviewing the work of junior staff members.
