This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.
• Oversee the design of transmission and distribution substation projects for utility, renewable energy, and industrial clients.
• Offer technical guidance throughout the phases of planning, conceptual design, detailed design, procurement, and construction support.
• Lead design efforts and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams to ensure timely and budget-friendly delivery.
• Assist with project planning, resource management, technical evaluations, and project execution.
• Provide technical oversight for upgrades, expansions, brownfield modifications, and greenfield projects.
• Collaborate with project managers to identify and mitigate project risks.
• Support construction by providing technical consultation, design clarifications, and resolving field issues.
• Cultivate relationships with utility, renewable energy, and industrial clients.
• Engage in client meetings, technical workshops, presentations, and project reviews.
• Assist in proposals, scope definition, cost estimates, and pursuit efforts.
• Identify opportunities to enhance services and reinforce client partnerships.
• Work together with regional and national teams on strategic growth initiatives.
• Mentor engineers and designers while promoting technical development and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with civil, structural, transmission, protection and control, and program management teams.
• Contribute to best practices and continuous improvement initiatives within the Power Delivery practice.
• Promote technical excellence, innovation, safety, and collaboration.
• BA/BS and 4 years of relevant experience or a demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• Proven experience in supporting transmission and distribution substation projects.
• Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, utility infrastructure, and power delivery systems.
• 4 years of experience in leading engineering tasks, reviewing technical deliverables, and coordinating project teams.
• Proficiency with industry-standard engineering and design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil3D, or similar tools.
• Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating in a remote setting.
• Experience in supporting utility, renewable energy, grid modernization, or energy transition projects.
• Experience in mentoring designers or engineers and contributing to technical leadership initiatives.
• Familiarity with underground transmission and distribution applications.
• Knowledge of industry standards and codes.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and client relationship skills.
• Periodic travel required for project, client, and team needs.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States; no sponsorship for US employment authorization is available now or in the future.
• Must attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location.
