This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.
• Oversee the design of transmission and distribution substation projects for utility, renewable energy, and industrial clients.
• Offer technical direction throughout the phases of planning, conceptual design, detailed design, procurement, and construction support.
• Keep up-to-date with technologies, industry standards, and utility practices pertaining to substations, grid modernization, and power delivery systems.
• Direct design activities and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams.
• Assist in project planning, resource coordination, technical evaluations, and project execution.
• Provide technical oversight for upgrades, expansions, brownfield modifications, and greenfield initiatives.
• Collaborate with project managers to identify and address potential risks.
• Support construction efforts by providing technical advice, design clarifications, and resolving field issues.
• Cultivate relationships with utility, renewable energy, and industrial clients.
• Engage in client meetings, technical workshops, presentations, and project reviews.
• Aid in proposal development, scope definition, cost estimation, and pursuit strategies.
• Identify opportunities to enhance services and bolster client partnerships.
• Work alongside regional and national teams on strategic growth initiatives.
• Mentor engineers and designers while promoting technical development and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with civil, structural, transmission, protection and control, and program management teams.
• Contribute to industry best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
• High School Diploma or equivalent, along with 6 years of relevant experience or a demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• Proven experience supporting transmission and distribution substation projects.
• Established knowledge of electrical engineering principles, utility infrastructure, and power delivery systems.
• 6 years of experience leading engineering tasks, reviewing technical deliverables, and coordinating project teams.
• Demonstrated proficiency with industry-standard engineering and design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil3D, or similar applications.
• Willingness to travel periodically for project, client, and team requirements.
• Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating in a remote setting.
• Experience in supporting utility, renewable energy, grid modernization, or energy transition projects.
• Background in mentoring designers or engineers and contributing to technical leadership initiatives.
• Familiarity with underground transmission and distribution applications.
• Knowledge of relevant industry standards and codes.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and client relationship skills.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States; sponsorship is currently not available.
