This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alaska.
• Oversee, guide, and lead the Underground Mining Team within the Mining Services Department.
• Manage the daily operations, control, and supervision of underground mining areas in compliance with MSHA regulations.
• Ensure miners comprehend written instructions, mining plans, and underground layouts.
• Convey production strategies and set daily objectives.
• Track, manage, and evaluate the progress of underground miners.
• Collaborate with geologists, surveyors, mining engineers, and contractors to coordinate mining activities.
• Organize and manage shift schedules to achieve production and cost goals.
• Maintain underground production and status boards while completing necessary documentation.
• Ensure personnel receive training and are qualified in operational procedures.
• Advocate for and enforce safe work practices while implementing safety initiatives.
• Ensure all incidents and accidents are reported, investigated, and reviewed.
• Provide performance evaluations and develop succession plans for the team.
• Coordinate competency evaluations and development with Mine Trainers.
• Inspect working environments, mobile and fixed equipment, and perform pre-start checks.
• Monitor equipment operation, availability, breakdowns, and any non-conformances.
• Keep accurate records of mining operations, downtime, mined areas, incidents, and inspections.
• Update daily production statistics in relation to set targets.
• Prepare criteria for upgrades and revisions for managerial approval.
• Offer, monitor, and document equitable training opportunities while maintaining employee training records.
• Report to the Mine General Foreman and take on additional responsibilities as required.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in the mining sector.
• Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office and INX.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Capability to pass a background check and post-offer physical examination.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a supervisory or lead position.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Proven ability to maintain or surpass best industry practices in mining production tasks.
• Willingness to adapt to improved procedures and practices.
• Knowledge of the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Act & Regulations.
• Ability to work a rotating schedule of 21 days on and 21 days off, with shifts lasting up to 12 hours or more.
• Capacity to work in extreme and changing weather conditions, as well as in dusty, muddy, noisy, and confined work areas.
• Employees must reside on-site at the company-provided camp during their work rotation.
• Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
