Unattended Ground Sensors (UGS) Specialist – Part-time

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Deliver part-time assistance for operational needs.

• Stay updated on sensor functionalities and their applications in border security operations.

• Aid in the inventory, deployment, and upkeep of UGS systems across various terrains and conditions.

• Perform inspections and preventive maintenance, which includes alignment, checking, and testing of sensors.

• Offer technical support during UGS operations and educate team members on system usage and maintenance.

• Identify and resolve malfunctions, swap out hardware components, troubleshoot software issues, and confirm corrections.

• Adhere to safety protocols and ensure compliance with operational guidelines.

• Keep detailed records of deployments, maintenance activities, and system performance, compiling data for reports.

• Maintain accountability for hardware, software, and spare parts.

• Oversee diagnostic and operational tools, support equipment, and test systems.

• Work collaboratively with CBP offices, DHS officials, and USBP personnel to align operational goals and ensure accurate reporting.

• Participate in the development and implementation of new UGS technologies and strategies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Active CBP BI or TOP SECRET clearance is mandatory.

• U.S. Citizenship is required for obtaining and holding a U.S. security clearance.

• An Associate’s degree in electronics, telecommunications, or a relevant field, or equivalent military or law enforcement training.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience with unattended ground sensors (UGS) or similar technologies.

• Technical expertise in seismic, acoustic, infrared, magnetic, and microwave sensors.

• Familiarity with UGS components, including power supplies, communication modules, and sensor elements.

• Proficient in sensor collection, processing, and data transmission.

• Understanding of wireless communication, encryption and security, and AI in Image Recognition.

• Knowledge of sensor placement, site selection, and concealment techniques.

• Skills in signal processing, anomaly detection, and software tools for data visualization.

• Awareness of integrating UGS with other security systems for interoperability.

• Understanding of geographical and environmental conditions in deployment zones.

• Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and safety protocols.

• Ability to work in challenging and remote environments, including rugged terrain and adverse weather conditions.

• Physical endurance for lifting, carrying, and transporting equipment over long distances.

• Capability to perform physically demanding tasks while maintaining concentration and accuracy.

• Willingness to travel frequently and be deployed for extended periods.

• Scheduled work averages between 20 to 32 hours per week.
