This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Execute user research activities, such as interviews, usability testing, and heuristic evaluations.
• Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs for web-based applications.
• Collaborate with developers to ensure that designs are practical, accessible, and accurately implemented.
• Utilize human-centered design techniques to address intricate content and navigation issues.
• Confirm that designs adhere to Section 508 accessibility standards and WCAG guidelines.
• Design within and contribute to collective design systems, ensuring alignment with the U.S. Web Design System (USWDS).
• Assist with ongoing UX enhancements, audits, and iterative releases.
• Engage in Agile processes and ceremonies using tools such as Jira, Smartsheet, Asana, and Box.
• Contribute to internal design standards, documentation, and best practices.
• Carry out other related responsibilities as qualified and trained.
• Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in UI/UX design.
• A robust portfolio showcasing user-centered design, research-driven methodologies, and accessible UI solutions.
• Candidates must provide a link to a portfolio featuring relevant work.
• Practical experience with Section 508 accessibility and WCAG standards.
• Familiarity with the US Web Design System or other extensive design systems.
• Understanding of the 21st Century Integrated Digital Experience Act and OMB Memo M-23-22.
• Experience designing for Drupal or other CMS-based websites.
• Proficiency in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, or comparable design tools.
• Comfort in working within cross-functional, highly collaborative Agile teams.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions to diverse audiences.
• Bachelor's degree in UX design, HCI, design, or equivalent experience is preferred.
• Prior experience working with or for government entities, non-profits, or underserved communities.
• Capability to obtain and sustain a favorable Tier 4 / High Risk Public Trust determination.
• Must have legal authorization to work in the US.
