Trauma Program Registrar

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oklahoma.

📋 Description

• Gather, assess, and interpret data from medical records and trauma care documentation.

• Ensure thorough quality care while identifying areas for performance improvement.

• Examine reports and charts using the inclusion criteria from the American College of Surgeons and the Oklahoma State Department of Health to pinpoint qualifying patients.

• Code and document treatments utilizing ICD-10-CM and the Abbreviated Injury Scale coding systems.

• Analyze care to detect variations in processes or outcomes.

• Oversee data management, case findings, abstraction, retrieval, and analysis.

• Ensure that registry functions comply with the guidelines set by the American College of Surgeons, the National Trauma Data Bank, and the Trauma Quality Improvement Program.

• Provide statistical reports to physicians, administration, and external organizations.

• Support Trauma Registry data management.

• Adhere to record-completion standards.

• Engage in inter-rater validation of abstracted patient records.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience with electronic Medical Records.

• Remote positions necessitate at least one year of experience as a trauma registrar.

• Must possess a degree in Health Information Management or a comparable combination of education and experience in a health-related field, including experience in coding, data abstraction, or emergency room activities relevant to the required education/certification.

• Completion of the American Trauma Society-Trauma Registry Course within 12 months of hire.

• Completion of the Association of the Advancement of Automotive Medicine-Abbreviated Injury Scale Course within 12 months of hire.

• Completion of the American Trauma Society-ICD-10 Coding Course within 12 months of hire.

• Familiarity with medical terminology.

• Understanding of the principles and practices related to trauma registry, medical records, and associated policies and procedures.

• Knowledge of indexing, classification, and staging systems.

• Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology relevant to trauma processes.

• Proficient in database management, particularly in abstracting and coding trauma-related data from electronic medical records and laboratory reports.

• Skills in report writing.

• Strong computer and interpersonal skills.
