Transportation Planner

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Create conceptual designs for transportation and multi-modal initiatives.

• Prepare environmental documentation, such as State Environmental Assessment Worksheets, Federal Categorical Exclusions, Environmental Assessments, and Environmental Impact Statements.

• Conduct planning and corridor studies related to transportation.

• Draft and finalize corridor studies, access control plans, project reports, and technical memoranda.

• Support marketing efforts for transportation and municipal planning consulting projects.

• Engage with clients on behalf of SEH during project meetings, public meetings, and workshops.

• Work on innovative transportation planning and design projects for clients in Colorado, Arizona, and other locations.

• Report to the Transportation Practice Center in SEH’s West Region.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Planning or Civil Engineering with a focus on transportation or a related field.

• At least two (2) years of experience in consulting and/or the public sector related to transportation planning.

• Familiarity with Federal and State of Colorado local agency project requirements.

• Experience collaborating with cities and counties across the State of Colorado.

• Prior experience conducting studies and analyses.

• Experience in designing and executing public involvement initiatives.

• Strong verbal and written communication/presentation skills.

• Willingness to travel as necessary for team meetings, client consultations, and on-site inspections/visits, with occasional overnight travel required.

• Certified Planner (AICP) or Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Colorado, or the ability to secure registration within one year of employment (preferred).

• Preferred: over ten (10+) years of experience in general planning, including bike trails, roads, etc.

• Preferred: prior experience with multi-modal studies and analyses, including bicycle and pedestrian plans.

• Preferred: knowledge of the regional transportation planning/funding process and the roles and interrelationships of Federal, regional, and local agencies.

• Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. without requiring visa sponsorship now or in the future.
