Transportation Continuous Improvement Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Foster Ryder's Continuous Improvement culture throughout transportation operations.

• Recognize and implement operational changes through data-driven continuous improvement, engineering, and automation initiatives.

• Enhance safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee development metrics.

• Gather data, conduct statistical analysis, and map and document processes.

• Identify process deficiencies and propose as well as execute process enhancements.

• Formulate and implement continuous improvement and transformation strategies.

• Oversee and finalize continuous improvement and steady-state engineering projects.

• Evaluate CI initiatives and offer recommendations for future endeavors.

• Assist in automation projects and maintain regular interaction with operations management.

• Utilize engineering methodologies, Lean tools, and quality standards.

• Implement product slotting, labor time studies, layout and flow optimization, data profiling and analysis, and resource modeling.

• Facilitate and carry out Value Stream Maps and Kaizen Events, including A3 charter development, pre-work, results presentation, and sustainment follow-up.

• Deliver regular reports on data and action plans aligned with site objectives.

• Provide recommendations regarding Supply Chain strategies.

• Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

• A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in the Transportation or Supply Chain sector.

• Experience in Transportation Management, Dedicated, FTL, or LTL.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with a strong emphasis on Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.

• Basic understanding of Lean tools/processes, including 5S, Standard Work, Visual Management, and problem-solving.

• Introductory knowledge and experience in essential engineering and data analysis functions, including slotting, utilization, labor planning, and metrics.

• Excellent interpersonal skills.

• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

• Capability to build and sustain professional relationships across all organizational levels.

• Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.

• Adaptability and self-motivation in a fast-paced environment.

• Proficient multitasking, organizational, and time management skills.

• Robust Continuous Improvement mindset.

• Capacity to manage CI projects from inception to sustained outcomes.

• Skills in implementing change.

• Preferred knowledge of data visualization tools such as Power BI and Tableau, alongside database programming skills in SQL and DAX.

• Familiarity with Dedicated Services, Managed Transportation Networks, equipment types, transportation design tools, transportation management systems, and mapping software is preferred.
