Transmission Planner

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Deliver transmission planning consulting services as an engineer and project manager in alignment with client requirements.

• Independently oversee intricate transmission planning studies.

• Guide and mentor junior staff engaged in similar analyses.

• Establish and nurture relationships with clients.

• Support efforts to broaden the client base and enhance Transmission Planning consulting services.

• Conduct transmission planning analyses under the guidance of a senior engineer.

• Implement QA/QC protocols and integrate review feedback effectively.

• Engage in sales and business development initiatives.

• Contribute to the technical writing of project proposals and responses to industry RFIs and RFPs.

• Actively participate and present at industry forums and conferences.

• Serve municipal utilities, investor-owned utilities, regional planning organizations such as ISOs and RTOs, developers, and independent power producers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering is mandatory with 3+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 2+ years of relevant experience.

• Experience in transmission analytics, including load flow studies, stability studies, protection studies, and short circuit studies.

• Proficient knowledge of power system theories and their limitations.

• Strong understanding of concepts related to power system analysis, particularly in transmission system planning.

• Familiarity with NERC reliability standards is essential.

• Experience with industry analytical tools such as PSS/E, PSLF, PowerGEM TARA, DSA Tools TSAT, PowerWorld, ASPEN, CAPE/APA, EMTP, and PSCAD is highly desirable.

• Proven experience working both as a team member and in a leadership capacity within transmission studies.

• Exceptional oral and written communication skills.

• Strong ability to solve problems in both team-oriented and independent settings.

• Willingness to travel to project and/or client locations is required.

• Knowledge of transmission policy and regulatory issues, including FERC Open Access Transmission Tariff, NERC reliability standards, and Generator Interconnection Procedures (LGIP and SGIP), along with related study practices, is advantageous.
