Transaction Monitoring Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.

📋 Description

• Conduct investigations into transaction monitoring alerts related to both fiat and cryptocurrency activities, thoroughly examining the customer's complete history.

• Analyze deposits, withdrawals, counterparties, frequency, amounts, and the flow of funds to detect suspicious patterns.

• Evaluate direct and indirect on-chain exposure using Chainalysis KYT, focusing on transaction hops, values, and timing.

• Treat tool alerts as indicators and document any limitations or missing information that may impact the assessment.

• Review KYC and Enhanced Due Diligence records, including sources of funds, sources of wealth, past reviews, and customer communications.

• Utilize OSINT and adverse media when applicable.

• Approve or decline transactions within established procedural limits.

• Escalate essential, unresolved, or urgent sanctions-related cases to the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU).

• Compose clear English escalation narratives that encompass triggers, customer context, fiat and on-chain findings, mitigating factors, and the rationale for escalation.

• Maintain precise case records and manage the queue in alignment with quality standards, priorities, and service levels.

• Promptly raise blockers and urgent risks.

• Engage in quality reviews, calibration sessions, and training, while sharing recurring patterns, data discrepancies, or rule issues with the team lead.

• Collaborate with the Transaction Monitoring team lead, FIU investigators, KYC, Enhanced Due Diligence, and payment review teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in AML or financial crime operations, including direct involvement in transaction monitoring investigations at a fintech or regulated cryptocurrency firm.

• In-depth understanding of money laundering and terrorist financing typologies, sanctions risk, and the risk-based approach.

• Ability to assess red flags against mitigating evidence, recognize missing information, and justify decisions regarding case closures, rejections, or escalations.

• Excellent written and spoken English skills, with the capacity to articulate reasoning when challenged by reviewers.

• Proficient in transaction monitoring tools, case management systems, and spreadsheet data analysis.

• Discretion in handling confidential information while maintaining quality in a busy queue management environment.

• Availability for shifts that cover global operations, including nights and weekends as scheduled.

• A reliable internet connection for video meetings and a smartphone for authentication applications.

• Willingness to undergo background and security checks.

• Practical experience with Chainalysis KYT, Elliptic, TRM, or other blockchain analytics tools is highly advantageous.

• Experience in writing SAR/STR narratives or FIU referrals, CAMS certification, or SQL skills is beneficial.

• Successful completion of a practical exercise that involves analyzing cryptocurrency transactions, interpreting on-chain evidence, and composing an investigation narrative with a justified decision.
