This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Provide support to federal agencies such as the U.S. EPA and NIEHS, as well as to state agencies and private sector clients.
• Perform qualitative assessments of scientific and peer-reviewed literature.
• Investigate environmental risk assessment topics, consolidate findings, and present them through reports, websites, and visualizations.
• Oversee data and visualization tools, ensure rigorous database maintenance, and create visual representations and dashboards.
• Execute study data extraction utilizing electronic systematic review procedures and tools.
• Conduct data and statistical analyses using software such as Excel, Access, R, SAS, Python, SQL, VBA, and others.
• Engage in scientific workshops through notetaking, summary report creation, and event logistics handling.
• Adhere to standardized QA/QC protocols for documents and reports.
• Carry out toxicology systematic review tasks, which include literature screening, evaluation of study quality, and extraction of study data.
• Assist in the development of risk assessment reports, including writing methods, results, and discussion sections.
• Review conclusions drawn from data and integrate findings into weight-of-evidence analyses.
• Perform dose-response analyses as necessary.
• Collaborate across multiple projects with staff at all levels and foster professional relationships with clients.
• Note that there is no hands-on laboratory or field work involved.
• A Master’s degree in Toxicology, Epidemiology, Public Health, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field, or a Bachelor’s degree in one of these areas combined with relevant experience.
• A minimum of 4 years of professional experience.
• Capability to interact with clients and present project updates effectively.
• Proficient data-science skills, including experience in managing and visualizing large datasets.
• Excellent research and scientific writing abilities, inclusive of editing, using reference management software such as EndNote, and proofreading.
• Strong qualitative and quantitative skills in data collection, analysis, and visualization.
• Effective written and oral communication skills, encompassing the development and delivery of presentations.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple assignments, and work independently, in teams, and remotely under tight deadlines.
• Familiarity with Excel, Access, R, SAS, Python, SQL, VBA, and/or additional software.
• Experience with environmental science systematic reviews is advantageous.
• Part-time on-call schedule ranging from 5 to 30 hours per week.
