Tour Operations Specialist, South East Asia

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Asia.

📋 Description

• Take charge of comprehensive ground operations for multi-day group tours across Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos.

• Oversee all aspects of departures, including accommodations, transportation, activities, Tour Conductors, payments, and logistical arrangements.

• Recruit, train, brief, schedule, support, and evaluate Tour Conductors for optimal performance.

• Source, negotiate, contract, and manage suppliers while ensuring a balance between quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.

• Track operational KPIs, expenses, supplier performance, and feedback from travelers.

• Lead efforts in responding to disruptions and emergencies that may arise during tours.

• Enhance and automate operational processes through the use of AI and digital tools.

⛳️ Requirements

• Professional proficiency in both spoken and written English and Vietnamese.

• Practical experience in ground operations with a tour operator or Destination Management Company (DMC) that conducts multi-day group tours in Southeast Asia.

• Demonstrated end-to-end management experience regarding reservations, suppliers, logistics, Tour Conductors, payments, and on-tour delivery.

• Strong operational understanding of Vietnam and preferably Cambodia and Laos.

• Proven experience in supplier negotiations, contracting, cost management, and performance oversight.

• Familiarity with utilizing KPIs, reports, and operational data to enhance quality, manage costs, improve accuracy, and boost supplier performance.

• Confident utilization of reservation, operations, ERP, CRM, or similar business software, with a quick aptitude for learning complex systems.

• Strong digital orientation and willingness to embrace AI and automation for operational workflows.

• Capability to manage multiple departures and independently resolve operational emergencies.

• Additional language skills in German or French relevant to Southeast Asia are advantageous.

• Experience working with a European tour operator or DMC catering to European tour operators and travelers is a plus.

• An existing network of trusted tourism suppliers and industry partners within Southeast Asia is beneficial.

• Experience in developing Tour Conductors through coaching, training, and performance management is a plus.

• Practical experience with AI or automation beyond basic prompting is advantageous.
