Test Manager – Quality Assurance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee Quality Assurance for a AAA game development team

• Lead embedded testing teams and collaborate with cross-functional leadership to balance quality, timelines, and risk

• Establish a global QA strategy, set test objectives, define quality gates, and implement risk-based testing methodologies for key project milestones

• Integrate QA processes into early development planning and throughout the feature lifecycle

• Mentor and nurture the growth of QA Leads and testers

• Manage both internal and external QA resources

• Supervise functional, gameplay, performance, stability, multiplayer, and platform certification testing

• Track defect trends and quality risks; prioritize critical issues until resolution

• Analyze defect data, identify systemic quality challenges, and lead root-cause analyses and preventative initiatives

• Communicate emerging quality risks and technical assessments to Production and project leadership

• Set QA schedules and deliverables for major milestones; evaluate build stability and readiness for release

• Coordinate final regression and stabilization efforts during release phases

• Lead preparation for first-party certification and manage submission risks

• Represent QA within project leadership and advocate for high-quality standards

• Foster cross-disciplinary partnerships and promote shared ownership of quality

• Manage external vendors and co-development QA teams

• Implement reporting and dashboards to track build health, test coverage, and milestone progress

• Enhance QA efficiency through automation, tooling, and retrospective process evaluations

⛳️ Requirements

• Candidate must be based in the US and able to work from Wednesday to Sunday each week

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in software QA

• At least 3 years of experience managing teams within game development

• Demonstrated success in shipping at least one major AAA title throughout the entire development lifecycle

• Proficiency in formulating test strategies, risk-based testing, and Agile methodologies

• Exceptional communication skills with an ability to influence senior leadership

• Preferred: Experience with Unreal audio features (e.g., Audio Mixer, MetaSounds, Sound Cues, Submixes, Quartz, spatialization plugins)

• Preferred: Familiarity with platform-specific audio constraints and certification considerations

• Preferred: Experience in developing editor tools and automating pipelines

• Preferred: Experience supporting large-scale content teams and multi-project shared technology

• Preferred: Knowledge of console certification, multiplayer/online services, and live-service operations

• Preferred: Familiarity with Jira, TestRail, and technical QA solutions such as automation and telemetry
