Test Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop, implement, execute, and sustain comprehensive testing strategies and test cases.

• Design, implement, and execute both manual and automated test plans, test cases, and test scripts.

• Perform functional, regression, integration, system, user acceptance, and performance testing across various environments.

• Identify, document, and monitor software defects and inconsistencies utilizing defect tracking and ticketing systems.

• Collaborate with developers, system analysts, business analysts, and project stakeholders to grasp requirements and ensure adequate test coverage.

• Engage in requirements reviews, design walkthroughs, and Agile sprint ceremonies.

• Create and uphold automated test scripts and frameworks.

• Conduct root cause analysis and oversee defect resolution and re-testing.

• Validate software against security, compliance, and accessibility standards.

• Maintain documentation for test plans, test cases, test results, and traceability matrices.

• Track and report on testing progress, defect metrics, and software quality.

• Support quality assurance standards, best practices, and testing SOPs.

• Take part in sprint planning, backlog grooming, daily standups, and retrospectives.

• Coordinate and assist in UAT with government clients and end users.

• Evaluate and mitigate risks related to software quality and testing coverage.

• Suggest enhancements to testing processes, tools, and methodologies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.

• 3+ years of experience in software quality assurance, test engineering, or a related testing position.

• Proven experience in developing and executing test plans and test cases for complex software applications.

• Familiarity with Agile software development practices.

• Expertise in designing, developing, and executing both manual and automated test plans, test cases, and test scripts across various types of testing, including functional, regression, integration, system, and performance testing.

• Experience with defect tracking and project management tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, or equivalent platforms.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including the identification, documentation, and communication of software defects and root causes.

• Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC).

• Experience in developing and maintaining test automation frameworks and automated test scripts with tools like Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or similar.

• Capability to create and maintain test documentation, including test plans, test cases, test results, and requirements traceability matrices.

• Understanding of Agile methodologies, specifically Scrum.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team while independently managing individual testing responsibilities.

• Ability to obtain and retain a Public Trust Clearance.

• Preferred: 5+ years of experience in software quality assurance or test engineering.

• Preferred: Experience in software testing within a federal government IT environment.

• Desired: ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL) or equivalent quality assurance certification.

• Desired: Experience with API testing tools such as Postman or SoapUI.

• Desired: Knowledge of performance and load testing tools like JMeter or LoadRunner.

• Desired: Understanding of Section 508 accessibility standards and accessibility testing.

• Desired: Experience with CI/CD pipeline integration for automated testing using Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitLab CI.

• Desired: Familiarity with concepts and tools related to security testing.

• Desired: Experience in supporting or coordinating UAT with government or enterprise-level clients.

• Desired: Knowledge of database querying (SQL).

• Desired: Experience with cloud-based testing environments, particularly Microsoft Azure or AWS.
