Test Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Implement risk-focused testing coverage to achieve sprint objectives for high-quality software delivery.

• Test dynamic and interactive user-interface solutions for the CMS Center for Program Integrity Unified Case Management system.

• Validate the functionality of front-end web applications, back-end data, and reporting/ETL data.

• Engage in a SAFe scrum team throughout the software implementation lifecycle.

• Ensure system solutions align with customer business requirements.

• Analyze, document, and communicate system and business processes associated with testing.

• Provide technical support to current and prospective customers during UAT testing.

• Contribute to and execute test plans.

• Design, create, automate, and execute various test cases and scenarios.

• Conduct functional, non-functional, regression, system, and performance testing.

• Record actual results and compare them against expected outcomes.

• Document and perform root cause analysis for defects and issues.

• Collaborate with government and non-government stakeholders at various authority levels.

• Generate evaluated test and defect reports.

• Take part in software walkthroughs.

• Develop expertise in the UCM application to facilitate requirements analysis, accurate estimations, and risk-mitigating test coverage.

• Work effectively with a remote cross-functional team as well as independently.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree.

• Over 4 years of relevant experience in both manual and automated Software Quality Assurance.

• Proficient in testing systems with intricate data and/or workflow structures.

• Capability to write and modify PostgreSQL or SQL scripts for testing purposes.

• Familiarity with CodeCept or similar automation tools and frameworks like JavaScript or Playwright.

• Experience with AI tools such as Copilot or Claude.

• Must be eligible to obtain Public Trust clearance.

• Must have resided in the United States for at least three (3) out of the last five (5) years.

• Availability to work 40 hours per week during Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm EST core hours.

• Proficient with defect tracking tools like JIRA and/or TestRail.

• Experience in functional testing for IT systems or databases.

• Background in Agile or SAFe methodologies.

• Experience in test automation.

• Prior experience with CMS or medical data systems or tools.

• Familiarity with large, complex data sources utilizing PostgreSQL or SQL and data migration and/or maintenance activities.

• Experience in testing across both on-premise and AWS cloud environments.

• Knowledge of web scripting languages.

• Experience with testing ETL, reporting, and/or APIs.

• Experience ensuring Section 508 Compliance using JAWS or similar tools.

• Strong analytical skills.

• Ability to comprehend and execute customer business requirements.

• Excellent interpersonal skills for collaboration with customers and internal cross-functional teams.

• Superior written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to manage customer expectations and software implementation methodologies.

• Capacity to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

• Ability to work autonomously.

• Agile certification such as SAFe Practitioner, SAFe Agilist, CSM, or other relevant agile certifications.
