Template Art Director – 12-month contract

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan.

📋 Description

• Design fresh, diverse, and visually appealing graphics for the Japan community.

• Create distinctive template concepts across various themes and topics pertinent to Japan.

• Collaborate with asset creators to develop supporting illustrations, photographs, and design elements.

• Propose design styles and creative directions that resonate with local user preferences.

• Ensure quality control for Creator templates in partnership with the Creator Template Review Team.

• Utilize AI tools to produce templates efficiently for the Japan market.

• Compose clear Creator briefs that include direction, context, and inspiration.

• Work alongside the Design Lead to manage freelance designers, ensuring projects remain on track, aligned with briefs, and meet deadlines.

• Supervise the complete rollout of the Japan content library.

• Collaborate with copywriters, illustrators, market growth experts, and localization specialists.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience as a Graphic, Brand, or Visual Designer in both digital and print marketing.

• A true passion for design trends and styles specific to Japan.

• A portfolio that demonstrates clean, elegant, and visually stunning design work.

• Strong skills in hand illustration, typography, color theory, conceptual graphic design, and layout.

• A keen eye for visual, cultural, and pop culture trends.

• A distinctive stylistic perspective rooted in design principles.

• Ability to design with the end user in mind, delivering high-quality work on time and as per brief.

• Experience in providing clear, constructive, and helpful design feedback.

• Comfort in utilizing AI tools within the design process and a curiosity about expanding their application.

• Skill in writing succinct creative briefs.

• Experience in coordinating, guiding, or supporting a small group of designers, or a willingness to take on that responsibility.

• Familiarity with Canva is an advantage.
