This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Conduct research on vehicle network signals, proprietary OEM data, and field logs to pinpoint valuable telemetry parameters.

• Examine wiring diagrams, body builder guides, and relevant OEM documentation to devise strategies for vehicle connection and data access.

• Interface with vehicle networks to capture and analyze logs, documenting findings for engineering and product teams.

• Employ live vehicle debugging, data scraping, reverse engineering, and custom scripts to enhance vehicle coverage.

• Deliver technical insights that shape new telematics features and refine vehicle data interpretation.

• Travel to customer sites to engage with vehicles and validate coverage solutions.

• Lead vehicle coverage initiatives in collaboration with global, cross-functional teams.


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 4 years of experience in analyzing automotive vehicle network traffic or engaging with vehicle telematics systems.

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in electrical engineering, software engineering, automotive engineering, or a related discipline.

• Practical experience interfacing with vehicles and vehicle communication networks.

• Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, Python, or similar.

• Experience with physical debugging tools, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, or scan tools.

• Familiarity with reverse-engineering tools and hardware like Vehicle Spy, PCAN, or SavvyCAN.

• Knowledge of automotive standards such as SAE J1979, J1939, ISO 15765, WWH-OBD, OBD-II, UDS, J1708, or J1587.

• Must possess authorization to receive and access commodities and technologies governed by U.S. Export Administration Regulations.

• Must be authorized for access to Motive products and technology.
