Controls Systems – Commissioning Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee the safe, efficient, and prompt commissioning, trial operations, and acceptance testing of the GE Mark VIe control system for Combined Cycle Power Plants.

• Conduct pre-checks, energize systems, and verify networks among devices and subsystems.

• Supervise and carry out loop checks, functional assessments, and protection testing while adhering to strict documentation and operational log protocols.

• Manage the transition of systems from installation to commissioning and final handover to the customer.

• Diagnose complex hardware and software problems.

• Evaluate control logic in comparison to engineering design documentation.

• Apply modifications to HMI screens and configure alarms.

• Enforce EHS protocols, which include conducting risk assessments, safety inspections, and monitoring subcontractor compliance.

• Ensure that commissioning efforts comply with site safety standards and relevant regulations.

• Provide technical insights and comprehensive site reports to engineering and project teams.

• Oversee the inventory of commissioning test equipment, ensuring proper inspection, tracking of usage, and timely returns.

• Participate in lessons-learned initiatives and ongoing improvement projects.

• Bachelor's degree in Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Willingness and capability to travel for extended field assignments (up to 100%) throughout the United States and internationally.

• A strong intellectual curiosity paired with a genuine enthusiasm for energy, technology, and innovation.

• Excellent analytical and critical-thinking abilities, with a commitment to continuous learning and development.

• Comfort with uncertainty and the ability to adapt in dynamic, high-pressure field situations.

• Clear and confident communicator, capable of conveying complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Legally authorized to work in the United States.

• Successful completion of a drug screening, as required.
