Substation Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Oversee designated substation projects from initial concept through construction and commissioning phases.

• Assist in defining engineering needs and scope development alongside the Development Group during the initial conceptual stage.

• Report directly to the onsite Manager.

• Provide training, due diligence, and technical oversight to external engineers of record.

• Ensure adherence to generation interconnection agreements, scope of work documents, project specifications, site-specific design needs, IEEE, NESC, and ASCE standards.

• Acquire engineering consulting resources by creating scopes of work, soliciting bids, evaluating proposals, and allocating work through the Integrated Supply Chain Group.

• Coordinate the development of substation sites, engineering updates, data management, and permits.

• Advocate for both internal and external project interests through progress updates and risk-mitigation presentations during management meetings.

• Assist in reviewing interconnection documentation, including system impact studies, facility studies, reactive studies, harmonic studies, and interconnection agreements.

• Ensure that the requirements of the Transmission Owner, E&C engineering design, and ISO standards are integrated into the project design.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Engineering is preferred.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in the design and engineering of High Voltage substation projects.

• Experience in Project Engineering and/or Project Management.

• Possession of PMP and/or P.E. in a relevant discipline is advantageous.

• Willingness to travel within North America as required.

• Candidates must comply with applicable United States and comparable country export control regulations.
