Technology VP – CTO

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Develop and implement a multi-year technology roadmap that aligns with business expansion and market prospects.

• Propel innovation in areas such as robotics, automation, sensing/optics, digital payments, and retail platforms.

• Create scalable, modular platform architectures encompassing hardware, software, and data systems.

• Discover and nurture next-generation technologies.

• Lead and expand a global engineering and R&D team consisting of over 400 employees.

• Cultivate a high-performance engineering culture that prioritizes innovation.

• Ensure excellence in systems engineering, mechatronics, embedded software, and platform development.

• Promote best practices in product development lifecycle, quality, and reliability.

• Collaborate directly with strategic customers to co-create solutions and platforms.

• Convert customer requirements into scalable product and platform strategies.

• Transition the organization towards platform-based development as opposed to one-time products.

• Merge hardware, software, AI/data, and user experience into cohesive solutions.

• Encourage standardization and reuse across product lines to enhance speed and profitability.

• Manage technology-related P&L of around $100M, including R&D investment distribution.

• Balance long-term innovation funding with immediate delivery and ROI.

• Enhance efficiency, scalability, and cost optimization across global teams.

• Collaborate with Product, Commercial, and Operations leaders to ensure technology aligns with business strategy.

• Shape enterprise-level decisions regarding M&A, partnerships, and ecosystem growth.

• Act as a vital member of the executive leadership team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 15 years of progressive leadership experience in engineering, R&D, or technology sectors.

• Current or recent role as CTO, Chief Engineering Officer, SVP/EVP of Engineering or R&D, or VP/SVP of Technology.

• Demonstrable leadership of large, global engineering teams comprising 200–500+ professionals.

• Experience managing substantial budgets and/or P&L responsibilities.

• Specialized knowledge in industrial automation and robotics, warehouse automation/retail robotics systems, vision systems/optics/sensing technologies, advanced manufacturing platforms (EMS/ODM), or consumer electronics/smart connected devices.

• Extensive expertise in complex systems integration across hardware, software, and data.

• Proven history of constructing scalable technology platforms.

• Capability to convert emerging technologies into commercial products.

• Established success in leading large, distributed global teams.

• Strong executive presence with the ability to influence at board and C-suite levels.

• Experience in building and maintaining high-performance engineering cultures.

• Demonstrated success in co-innovation with customers.

• Solid understanding of retail, commerce, or consumer ecosystems.

• Ability to connect B2B industrial systems with end-user experiences.

• Strong financial acumen with experience in managing R&D investments and ROI.

• Proven track record of delivering complex programs at scale.
