Technician I, Prior Authorization – Operations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Handle incoming calls from providers, pharmacies, members, and other callers.

• Deliver professional and courteous phone support throughout the criteria-based prior authorization process.

• Ensure thorough, timely, and accurate documentation of reviews.

• Refer clinical inquiries, escalations, and judgment calls to the pharmacist team.

• Make outbound calls as necessary.

• Review and process prior authorizations submitted via fax and ePA.

• Monitor and address inquiries through department mailboxes.

• Carry out other responsibilities as assigned by the leadership team.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent GED is required.

• Proficiency in basic computer skills.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite: Excel and Word is essential.

• Knowledge of Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Visio is a plus.

• Strong keyboard skills are necessary.

• Capability to multitask and use multiple system applications simultaneously.

• Basic understanding of pharmaceutical terminology, calculations, and protocols.

• Ability to independently utilize available resources and deliver high-quality work.

• Capacity to absorb information presented, exhibit motivation, pursue development, and solve problems.

• Flexibility to adapt to workflow changes and shifting priorities.

• Exceptional written, verbal, grammar, and listening communication skills.

• Ability to interact with a diverse customer base (both internal and external) in a friendly and confident manner.

• Commitment to maintaining the confidentiality of PHI (Protected Healthcare Information).

• An Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree is preferred; equivalent work experience is acceptable if neither degree is obtained.
