Technical Writer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Oversee, enhance, and expand JumpCloud’s product and developer documentation.

• Serve as an information architect and innovator in workflow processes.

• Manage documentation through GitHub-native workflows, utilizing Markdown, branches, pull requests, and code reviews.

• Incorporate documentation into automated CI/CD deployment pipelines using Static Site Generators like Docusaurus, MkDocs, or Hugo.

• Ensure version control across various product releases, API versions, and branch merges.

• Create, edit, and sustain API references, developer guides, user how-tos, configuration manuals, and release notes.

• Work in tandem with Engineering, Product Managers, and Designers to transform UX designs and technical specifications into user-friendly content.

• Provide UX writing support and enhance UX prototypes.

• Manage and prioritize 15–20 feature or update releases each quarter.

• Validate feature flags, API endpoints, sample code, and UI flows prior to publication.

• Design, deploy, and oversee in-app onboarding flows, tooltips, and release announcements using Pendo or similar platforms.

• Develop, test, and standardize prompts and prompt templates.

• Integrate AI assistants into daily workflows to minimize repetitive documentation tasks.

• Review AI-generated content for technical precision, brand tone, hallucinations, and compliance with security standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• 4-7+ years of experience as a Technical Writer, Documentation Engineer, or Product Content Strategy Specialist in a SaaS or tech setting.

• Demonstrated expertise in GitHub, encompassing pull requests, code reviews, and branch management.

• Proficient in Markdown and Static Site Generators within a Docs-as-Code pipeline.

• Practical experience with generative AI tools and a working knowledge of prompt engineering techniques.

• Ability to contribute promptly in response to highly technical and nuanced specifications.

• Strong editorial judgment to detect hallucinations, outdated parameters, and security vulnerabilities.

• Proven experience in crafting and targeting in-app messaging, guides, and analytics using Pendo or similar tools like Appcues, Userpilot, or WalkMe.

• Portfolio submission required, including documentation samples, AI prompts, demo videos, in-app notifications or onboarding flows, Git repositories, etc.

• Must reside in and be authorized to work in India.

• Proficient in spoken and written English.
