
Technical Specialist – Chassis Systems Reliability Verification and Validation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.
• Oversee the reliability demonstration of suspension systems.
• Ensure quality from the initial vehicle assessment through extended service duration.
• Align statistical objectives for Reliability and Confidence with the 90th percentile use case.
• Cascade reliability goals from the vehicle level to the system, end item, and end-item functions.
• Consider suspension functionality and performance in relation to customer operating conditions, environments, and noise factors.
• Design and implement vehicle, system, and laboratory tests that address noise factors and potential failure modes.
• Develop testing methodologies and gather, process, and analyze data for root-cause analysis.
• Utilize warranty analysis, fleet data, government inspection reports, supplier part sales, and social media to validate coverage of design verification test methods.
• Link physical testing methods to design inputs and CAE verification processes.
• Introduce stress factors into specifications and testing methodologies to eliminate high-time-in-service failures.
• Lead change-point analysis for reused or modified end items.
• Align system durability verification techniques for each application with technical specialists and connected-vehicle data teams.
• Direct suspension diagnostics and prognostics.
• Provide signoff for systems, subsystems, and components prior to Chief Signoff.
• Coach, mentor, and train suspension design and release engineers globally.
• Act as the primary expert for launch, recall, quality, field, and DV/PV issues.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in the development of chassis systems and architecture.
• Extensive experience in system and component engineering design and release.
• Proficient knowledge of various performance characteristics of chassis architectures.
• Experience with durability validation methods for vehicles, systems, and components.
• Significant experience in creating and managing DFMEA, PFMEA, SCCAF, Control Plans, and GD&T drawings.
• Familiarity with problem-solving tools such as 8D, 5 Whys, and Six Sigma methodologies.
• Experience analyzing outputs from CAE and physical testing methods for vehicles, systems, and components.
• Working knowledge of Six Sigma tools.
• Demonstrated quality-focused leadership, innovation, excellent communication abilities, strong organizational skills, and self-motivation.
• Master’s degree in Engineering is preferred.
• Capability to manage complex tasks and challenging situations under tight deadlines.
• Experience in communicating with senior leadership, design and release teams, and testing groups.
• Strong planning, organizational, and project management skills.
• Proven ability to drive and deliver results.
• Strong coaching and mentoring abilities.
• Exceptional written and oral presentation skills.
• Ability to foster effective relationships with cross-functional teams.
• Six Sigma Green Belt Certification is preferred.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to assembly plants and global chassis engineering centers.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.
