This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Collaborate as part of specialized technical teams to support servers, workstations, and various projects.
• Deliver technical assistance for servers, workstations, and the infrastructure used across government and the public sector.
• Oversee hypervisors and perform installation, configuration, and maintenance of operating systems.
• Manage and maintain layered products and middleware effectively.
• Execute hardware installation and upgrades.
• Provide and sustain testing environments.
• Implement approved operating system patches.
• Uphold fallback and recovery procedures and processes.
• Assess and determine suitable hardware, operating systems, server/desktop, and cloud configurations for IT initiatives.
• Analyze customer service requests while conducting technical, procedural, and risk assessments.
• Design, develop, and document both technical and business solutions, including procedural guidelines.
• Create and document cross-agency technical support specifications.
• Plan, test, and schedule the deployment of applications and operating systems.
• Receive, prioritize, assign, and manage service requests and incidents utilizing incident management tools.
• Provide top-tier technical support and liaise with vendors as necessary.
• Conduct daily monitoring and maintenance of infrastructure, applications, and operating systems.
• Participate in or lead projects, determining resource needs, developing implementation plans, tracking progress, and negotiating plan modifications.
• Review system specifications, schedules, and implementation strategies.
• Identify desktop issues, assess threats, and develop or source solutions.
• Research emerging trends and create new product offerings.
• Execute Problem and Change Management procedures.
• Offer Tier-3 technical support, advice, and guidance.
• Evaluate and test business solutions, operating systems, and software releases.
• Generate reports on infrastructure and application changes, user documentation, and Technical Information Bulletins.
• Assist in the development of policies, guidelines, and standards.
• Research technology, evaluate vendor advisories and industry best practices, perform feasibility studies, and make technology recommendations.
• Engage in special projects, including disaster recovery tests and declarations.
• A relevant degree or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
• Proven experience in technical project planning and the coordination of hardware or software solutions in a LAN/WAN Microsoft Windows environment.
• Familiarity with configuring and managing Service Management software suites like ServiceNow.
• Experience in analyzing and resolving complex issues related to Microsoft Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Azure cloud technologies, and TCP/IP network problems.
• Technical experience or administration in one or more relevant technology areas.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft operating system configuration, including Group Policy, Active Directory, or enterprise deployment imaging.
• Experience with Microsoft Systems Center Configuration Manager or similar tools.
• Proficiency with software packaging tools such as InstallShield, AppAttach, or MasterPackager.
• Background in software development using Microsoft tools and languages, including PowerShell.
• Experience with Enterprise Mobile Management tools such as AirWatch or Intune is advantageous.
• Endpoint Security experience with tools like Defender, CrowdStrike, or Sentinel is preferred.
• Familiarity with VDI technologies, including Azure Virtual Desktop or Citrix, is preferred.
• Azure Administration experience, encompassing Azure Cloud or Azure Local, is preferred.
• Preferred experience in VMware administration and management.
• Capability to plan, organize, and lead moderately complex technical projects.
• Proficient in preparing, editing, and proofreading technical documents such as project plans, charters, reports, and manuals.
• Ability to present information clearly and respond appropriately to inquiries.
• Skill in dealing effectively with resistant, demanding, or frustrated individuals.
• Capacity to contribute to team goals through cooperation and collaboration.
• Ability to independently organize and manage fluctuating workloads.
• Aptitude for analyzing technical and business challenges, identifying options, and developing effective solutions.
• Competence in conducting investigations and research on complex issues.
• Proficient in utilizing computer technology and fundamental software applications effectively.
• Capability to maintain customer hardware, software, and operating systems.
• Experience in administering and monitoring service delivery infrastructure platforms.
• Must reside in the Province of British Columbia to meet union certification requirements.
