This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Conduct preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and enhancements on IMAX digital projection and audio systems through both on-site visits and remote assistance.
• Ensure target uptime across IMAX theatres by providing proactive servicing and quick responses to technical challenges.
• Manage and care for complex, high-value projection and audio equipment in a critical "show must go on" setting.
• Organize, schedule, and carry out service visits, which include hardware and software installations.
• Identify and rectify equipment malfunctions to minimize downtime and decrease lost shows.
• Address customer alerts, emails, and phone inquiries within established service level expectations.
• Assist with emergency service dispatches and restore systems to normal operation as swiftly as possible.
• Travel extensively across the UK and Europe, often at short notice, to support theatre operations.
• Create detailed service reports following customer interactions.
• Keep accurate service records and complete reporting using CRM systems and internal databases.
• Monitor replacement parts and ensure compliance with warranty return protocols.
• Maintain precise theatre information and technical documentation.
• Identify opportunities to improve service quality and operational efficiency.
• Diploma or degree in Engineering, Electronics, Computer Technology, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Background in electronics, computer repair, field service, or technical support environments.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, electronics, and specialized diagnostic tools, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, and audio testing equipment.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and technical documents.
• Experience in handling and installing electronic components while adhering to proper anti-static protocols.
• Working knowledge of AC and DC power systems, including low-voltage, single-phase, and three-phase equipment.
• Exceptional troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Outstanding customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and common PC hardware and software.
• Basic understanding of networking concepts, such as IP addressing, connectivity testing, and network communications.
• Proficient in FTP protocols, Telnet, and related utilities.
• Valid driver's license and passport with the capability to travel extensively throughout the UK and Europe.
• Experience in supporting commercial cinema, audiovisual, or projection systems is a plus.
• Background in field service, help desk, repair bench, or network support is advantageous.
• Familiarity with Windows operating systems, networking, and troubleshooting is beneficial.
• Industry experience in Cinema Technology, Entertainment Technology, Audiovisual (AV), Electronics, Technical Field Services, or IT Infrastructure is a plus.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by business needs.
• Capability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work at heights as necessary.
