Technical Service Engineer – HVAC/R Certifications

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Conduct commissioning, startup, testing, and validation of PCS, ESS, and PVI systems at client locations.

• Execute preventive maintenance, inspections, firmware updates, and system health evaluations.

• Identify and resolve electrical, mechanical, communication, networking, and control system issues, performing necessary repairs.

• Address customer service inquiries, providing both onsite and remote technical assistance.

• Assess system alarms, logs, and operational data to determine root causes and implement corrective measures.

• Configure and validate system settings, communication protocols, and controller parameters.

• Assist in system integration with SCADA, EMS, BMS, utility, and third-party monitoring solutions.

• Carry out acceptance testing, functional verification, and compile commissioning reports.

• Deliver technical training to clients, contractors, and field staff.

• Create service reports, commissioning documents, maintenance records, and technical findings.

• Collaborate with Engineering, Product Management, and Quality teams by offering field insights.

• Ensure adherence to company safety protocols, customer site requirements, electrical safety regulations, and relevant standards.

• Maintain company tools, testing equipment, firmware, spare parts, and service supplies.

• Promote continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring customer satisfaction.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Power Electronics, Renewable Energy, or a related technical field; equivalent industry experience may be accepted.

• At least 3 years of experience in commissioning, servicing, or troubleshooting industrial electrical equipment, power electronics, renewable energy systems, UPS systems, ESS, PCS, solar inverters, or similar equipment.

• Certification in HVAC/R or a relevant trade license is preferred.

• HVAC/R certification, EPA/F-Gas license, or equivalent is preferred.

• In-depth knowledge of thermodynamics, refrigeration cycles, and control systems.

• Strong grasp of three-phase power systems, AC/DC power conversion, electrical distribution, and power electronics.

• Familiarity with battery energy storage systems, lithium-ion battery technologies, inverter systems, and grid-connected power systems.

• Capability to read and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.

• Proficient in using digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, insulation resistance testers, clamp meters, and power analyzers.

• Knowledge of Modbus RTU/TCP, Ethernet/IP, CAN, RS-485, and TCP/IP networking.

• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills coupled with strong customer service aptitude.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while handling multiple priorities.

• Valid driver's license required.

• Capability to obtain a passport for domestic and international travel, if necessary.

• Willingness to travel up to 70% of the time.

• Openness to frequent travel and independent work.

• Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems, utility-scale solar, microgrids, or renewable energy projects is advantageous.

• Experience in commissioning medium-voltage or utility-scale power conversion equipment is a plus.

• Knowledge of PLCs, SCADA systems, EMS, and industrial networking is advantageous.

• OSHA 10/30, NFPA 70E, or equivalent electrical safety certification is a plus.

• Familiarity with utility interconnection requirements and grid support functions is a plus.

• Previous experience supporting mission-critical facilities, data centers, or utility-scale renewable energy projects is beneficial.
