Technical Quality Assurance Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Establish, communicate, and uphold the organization's testing strategy and quality engineering standards.

• Empower QA Champions to devise and implement effective testing strategies for their teams and product areas.

• Offer technical guidance to Test Automation Engineers regarding automation strategies, framework design, coding standards, CI/CD integration, reusable components, maintainability, diagnostics, test data, and execution reliability.

• Ensure that automated test execution is integrated into delivery pipelines, delivering swift, dependable, and actionable feedback.

• Align functional, integration, regression, non-functional, and release validation efforts with product, technical, and delivery risks.

• Enhance developer accountability for testing while providing governance, coaching, and assurance.

• Critically review AI-generated testing assets and automation code prior to implementation.

• Set expectations for pipeline triggers, test execution, quality controls, test-result publication, diagnostic information, and feedback on failures.

• Boost release confidence through clear, evidence-based reporting on quality and automation.

• Minimize unnecessary rework, escaped defects, flaky tests, and reliance on manual regression testing.

• Mentor and influence QA Champions, Test Automation Engineers, developers, and delivery stakeholders.

• Convey technical quality risks to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Assess quality and automation evidence to pinpoint systemic risks and prioritize improvements.

• Evaluate and enhance the adoption of testing strategies, automation reliability, risk coverage, feedback speed, maintainability, release confidence, and overall testing effectiveness.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in software quality assurance, test automation, and quality engineering.

• Experience in providing technical leadership in complex software delivery environments utilizing Kanban methodology.

• Proven experience in integrating automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines.

• Demonstrated success in enhancing the reliability and feedback value of pipeline-based automated testing.

• Established ability to define, implement, and govern testing strategies.

• Experience in assisting other quality roles with the application of testing strategies within delivery teams.

• Hands-on experience with a contemporary automation framework.

• Preferred experience with Playwright and Selenium.

• Practical coding skills in an object-oriented programming language.

• Experience in designing, building, or significantly enhancing maintainable test automation frameworks.

• Experience in reviewing automation architecture and the quality of test code.

• A solid understanding of functional, integration, regression, and release testing.

• A good grasp of the software delivery lifecycle and release governance.

• A comprehensive understanding of risk management, risk identification, and risk-based testing.

• Experience with Azure DevOps pipelines is a plus.

• Familiarity with configuring automated test execution within build and deployment pipelines is desirable.

• Experience in publishing and interpreting automated test results within CI/CD tools is beneficial.

• Experience in implementing quality controls within pipelines is advantageous.
