Technical Project Manager, Facilities

📋 Description

• Oversee multiple simultaneous projects related to workplace design, construction, renovation, infrastructure, and facilities enhancements, from initial planning and due diligence to design, construction, commissioning, turnover, and project closeout.

• Serve as a project lead focused on ownership, balancing business goals, employee experience, technical performance, budget, schedule, quality, risk management, and long-term operational value.

• Create and manage project scopes, timelines, budgets, forecasts, procurement strategies, change controls, risk registers, governance structures, reporting mechanisms, and escalation processes.

• Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, vendors, landlords, and internal stakeholders across various regions and time zones.

• Assist in site selection and technical due diligence activities.

• Lead operational readiness initiatives and turnover processes, which include commissioning, punch-list completion, asset documentation, training, operation and maintenance manuals, warranties, and transition to facilities operations.

• Provide technical guidance across HVAC, electrical systems, lighting, controls, plumbing, life safety, building automation, metering, and other workplace infrastructure elements.

• Evaluate facility and system performance, identifying risks, deficiencies, lifecycle needs, and opportunities for improvement.

• Review architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation thoroughly.

• Assess designs for functionality, constructability, maintainability, regulatory compliance, sustainability, reliability, lifecycle costs, energy performance, and employee experience.

• Develop and uphold global technical standards, design criteria, specifications, checklists, templates, and performance benchmarks.

• Implement global standards while considering local codes, regulations, landlord specifications, climate conditions, operational needs, and cultural contexts.

• Define measurable requirements and confirm that completed projects perform as intended.

• Aid in occupancy measurement, space performance assessments, facilities analytics, and technical documentation processes.

• Incorporate sustainable design and operational practices, emphasizing energy efficiency, water conservation, responsible material use, waste reduction, indoor environmental quality, carbon footprint reduction, and high-performance building practices.

• Measure, validate, track, and report on energy, water, waste, and environmental performance metrics.

• Support LEED strategies for interior fit-outs and ongoing operations.

• Integrate physical security and life-safety measures, including access control, surveillance, visitor management, and intrusion detection systems.

• Prepare and maintain project budgets, forecasts, cash-flow projections, cost reports, and variance analyses.

• Assess proposals, bids, estimates, change orders, and contractor recommendations critically.

• Collaborate with Procurement and Legal on sourcing, selection, contract management, and vendor negotiations.

• Identify risks, formulate mitigation strategies, and prepare business cases accordingly.

• Act as a reliable technical advisor and main project contact for regional teams, business leaders, and senior stakeholders.

• Facilitate project meetings, design reviews, workshops, executive updates, and decision-making sessions effectively.

• Cultivate relationships across a geographically diverse organization while managing competing priorities.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Facilities Management, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• Over 10 years of experience in facilities management, design, engineering, construction, or project management.

• Demonstrated significant responsibility for complex commercial workplace projects and multiple concurrent, multi-phase initiatives.

• Strong familiarity with commercial building systems, construction techniques, project controls, and facilities operations.

• Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and technical documentation effectively.

• Experience managing budgets, timelines, forecasts, procurement processes, risks, change controls, commissioning, and operational turnover.

• Knowledge of environmental management and sustainability practices, including ISO 14001, energy management, high-performance building principles, building codes, workplace safety, accessibility, and regulatory compliance.

• Exceptional organizational, problem-solving, decision-making, written and verbal communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.

• Capability to work both independently and collaboratively in a global remote-working environment.

• Willingness to participate in meetings outside normal business hours for international collaboration as needed.

• Ability to travel domestically and internationally as business requirements dictate, generally not exceeding 20%.

• Preferred: Experience acting as an Owner’s Representative for corporate workplace, commercial interiors, or facilities projects and/or managing global or multi-regional project portfolios.

• Preferred: Professional certifications or licenses such as PMP, LEED AP, PE, RA, CFM, or equivalent.

• Preferred: Experience with LEED Interior Design and Construction (ID+C) or Operations and Maintenance (O+M), ESG initiatives, energy management programs, environmental or energy reporting requirements, commissioning, building automation, metering, facilities analytics, or asset lifecycle planning.

• Preferred: Familiarity with BIM, AutoCAD, facilities management and project management platforms, reporting dashboards, and associated digital tools.

• Preferred: Experience in developing global technical standards, specifications, playbooks, or design guidelines for a corporate real estate portfolio.

• Preferred: Strong global perspective with a commitment to continuous improvement, sustainability, resilience, accessibility, safety, workplace excellence, and enhancing employee experience.
