Technical Leader – Hydraulic Structures

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.

📋 Description

• Act as AECOM's senior corporate expert in hydraulic engineering, pumping system intakes, and associated infrastructure systems.

• Offer technical leadership and advisory services on intricate, high-profile projects within AECOM's global water practice.

• Conduct independent technical evaluations and engage in executive-level quality assurance and technical governance initiatives.

• Provide counsel on the planning, design, rehabilitation, and optimization of water, wastewater, stormwater, hydroelectric, industrial, and conveyance infrastructure systems.

• Chair or participate in Corporate Technical Review Committees for significant infrastructure projects.

• Assist in major pursuits and strategic growth efforts through technical strategies, client presentations, interviews, and proposal preparations.

• Represent AECOM in interactions with clients, industry organizations, regulatory bodies, academic institutions, and professional societies.

• Create guidance documents, design methodologies, technical standards, and innovation initiatives.

• Engage in AECOM’s Water Academy program focused on Pumping Systems.

• Participate in forensic assessments, troubleshooting, peer reviews, and risk mitigation analyses.

• Mentor technical leaders, project managers, and design professionals.

• Promote collaboration among AECOM's technical practices and support investments in emerging technologies and research.

• Publish technical articles, present at conferences, and uphold AECOM's leadership in the engineering profession.

• Collaborate with national and international standards organizations and industry committees.

• Travel to project sites and AECOM offices as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• BA/BS in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field + 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

• Increasingly responsible experience in hydraulic engineering, pumping system intakes, and water conveyance infrastructure.

• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with the capability to acquire Professional Engineer licensure in additional jurisdictions through comity/reciprocity.

• Acknowledged as a national or international technical authority within the hydraulic engineering field.

• Strong comprehension of HI standards, AWWA standards, USBR guidance, USACE guidance, and related industry best practices.

• Extensive expertise in leading complex hydraulic analyses and conducting physical hydraulic modeling studies.

• Proficient in conveying intricate technical concepts to clients, executive leadership, and multidisciplinary teams.

• Master's Degree or Ph.D. in a relevant engineering field is preferred.

• 15+ years of progressively responsible experience is preferred.

• 20+ years of overall industry experience is preferred.

• Internationally recognized subject matter expert in hydraulic engineering and pumping systems is preferred.

• Authorization for employment in the US; sponsorship is not available now or in the future.

• Ability to attend in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location.
