Vice President, Software Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the execution of enterprise software delivery, platform modernization, and the transformation of the engineering operating model within the Business Unit.

• Be responsible for delivery outcomes, key performance indicators (KPIs), the strategy for platform consolidation, engineering governance standards, and ensuring alignment between business priorities, enterprise architecture, AI initiatives, and technology execution.

• Collaborate with architecture and delivery colleagues on the vision and strategy for enterprise Software Delivery across all Business Units.

• Lead the consolidation and modernization of platforms into reusable services, APIs, and standardized engineering patterns.

• Set engineering standards for continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), code reviews, automated testing, security scanning, release readiness, rollback processes, observability, and incident learning.

• Enhance deployment frequency, lead times, defect escape rates, change failure rates, incident trends, and delivery predictability.

• Ensure that enterprise architecture standards and AI directives are implemented across products and teams.

• Collaborate with Product, Infrastructure, DevOps, Database, Security, AI, PMO, Operations, QA COE, and Support teams.

• Oversee daily management, KPI reviews, release readiness, production health reviews, and PSR execution.

• Propel AI-enabled engineering capabilities aimed at improving developer productivity, test automation, defect reduction, documentation, incident analysis, and operational insights.

• Establish standards for responsible AI usage, balancing productivity with security, compliance, maintainability, and quality.

• Represent Software Delivery in discussions with executives, customers, partners, and stakeholders.

• Build and mentor high-performing delivery leadership teams.

• Oversee alignment of capital expenditures (CapEx) and operational expenditures (OpEx), resource planning, and investments in platforms and tooling.

• Create enterprise delivery governance, KPI operating models, decision rights, Tech Lead accountability, and rules for PMO engagement.

• Define the roadmap for platform consolidation, modernization priorities, opportunities for shared services, and approaches for legacy deprecation.

• Standardize release readiness and production health reviews across all Business Units.

• Initiate AI-enabled engineering productivity projects with measurable outcomes.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.

• Over 12 years of experience in software engineering leadership.

• More than 7 years of experience leading multiple teams or Business Units.

• Proven track record in leading platform transformation, modernization, consolidation, and governance across both legacy and modern systems.

• Experience in implementing scalable engineering governance models, Agile/Lean delivery practices, and driving measurable improvements in flow and quality.

• Demonstrated experience in deploying AI-enabled engineering practices, developer productivity tools, or intelligent automation within software delivery organizations.

• Strong capabilities in executive communication, stakeholder management, and organizational leadership.

• Successful completion of the Nlets fingerprinting background assessment.

• Experience in enterprise software delivery, platform ecosystems, APIs, microservices, cloud platforms, containers, CI/CD, observability, and reliability engineering.

• Ability to assess platform strategies, delivery trade-offs, architectural directions, modernization paths, AI-enabled engineering practices, and operational risks.

• Familiarity with SaaS or large-scale digital platforms, internal developer platforms, distributed systems, and legacy modernization.
