This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.
• Establish the technical and product vision for the Code Plane team
• Lead the roadmap from initial issues to final product delivery
• Ensure the engineering team remains unblocked and productive
• Operate as a generalist across backend, AI agents, and frontend
• Oversee Batch Changes, Agentic Batch Changes, Code Monitors, Code Insights, and the src CLI product areas
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Customer Engineering, Solutions Engineering, and related engineering teams
• Convert customer feedback into product and technical priorities
• Utilize Sourcegraph products as both a user and an agent
• Participate in the on-call support rotation
• Manage a significant portion of Agentic Batch Changes from start to finish and deliver essential components
• Define and prioritize roadmap projects while clarifying ownership
• Enhance design, review, testing, and delivery practices
• Mentor team members and cultivate high-trust relationships
• Act as the technical visionary for Code Plane, directing architecture, quality, and product trade-offs
• Inspire engineers to carry out the roadmap
• Over 8 years of professional software engineering experience
• Proficient in Go, TypeScript, SvelteKit, React, GraphQL APIs, PostgreSQL, Docker, and Kubernetes within a multi-service environment
• Strong technical expertise to guide architecture, code quality, and trade-offs
• Demonstrated experience in developing end-user product features, preferably in developer tools, agent/AI products, CLIs, or technical product surfaces
• Experience collaborating with Product and Design to develop features from concept to delivery and integrate customer feedback into the roadmap
• Developed components that agents or other software utilize, such as MCP servers, agent SDKs, tool surfaces, harnesses, or a CLI intended for non-human users
• Practical experience with coding agents like Amp, Claude Code, Cursor, or similar
• Excellent async-first communication skills and experience in a globally distributed remote team
• Availability to work overlapping with CEST for at least 20 hours per week
• Strongly preferred: experience managing autonomous work at scale
• Strongly preferred: experience overseeing an inherited service with paying customers
• Strongly preferred: proven track record of elevating engineering standards
• Strongly preferred: experience in architectural decision-making under uncertainty
• Strongly preferred: experience defining metrics for systems with no single correct answer
• Strongly preferred: customer-facing technical discovery experience
• Strongly preferred: experience serving as a Team or Tech Lead
