Staff Software Engineer – DSM Team

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, scale, and maintain backend systems that handle significant volumes of data.

• Engage in event-driven and API-based integrations.

• Play a key role in migration initiatives towards a more domain-oriented and scalable architecture.

• Create and enhance software for workflows that are sensitive to performance.

• Analyze technical issues and collaborate with the team to propose solutions.

• Partner with data science and engineering colleagues to develop technical solutions.

• Work independently to guarantee timely and high-quality project delivery.

• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers for about 20% of your time.

• Collaborate with the Outcomes, Methodology, and Recruitment teams, as well as with product and data science teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in backend software engineering.

• Strong technical expertise.

• Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, Big O notation, and event-driven architecture.

• Familiarity with Spark, Apache ecosystem tools, Delta Lake, Parquet, and Kafka.

• Proficient in Python and/or PySpark.

• Background in building or maintaining intricate, real-time, high-throughput systems with minimal latency.

• Experience with Docker, SQL, and NoSQL databases.

• Knowledge of REST APIs and event-driven integrations.

• Comfortable in performance-oriented, production-critical settings.

• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive, collaborative working approach.

• Strong communication skills with engineers and data science partners.

• Preferred academic background in computer science, computer engineering, or a related discipline.

• Experience with AWS, GCP, or other cloud service providers is preferred.

• Familiarity with Pandas is preferred.

• Experience with the Spring framework and microservices is preferred.

• Background in large-scale data or analytics environments is preferred.
