Technical Lead Manager, Forward Deployed Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Lead and develop a team of Forward Deployed Engineers through activities such as hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management, and career growth.

• Take ownership of delivery across a portfolio of enterprise accounts, encompassing planning, milestones, risks, timelines, and customer outcomes.

• Balance the workload and account assignments of the team based on skills, capacity, customer requirements, and growth opportunities.

• Establish operational rhythms for status updates, delivery tracking, risk management, and proactive escalation.

• Manage expectations with both executive and technical stakeholders from customer organizations.

• Review solution architecture, guide complex technical decisions, and address escalations effectively.

• Support deployments in cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments, including Kubernetes, containers, Linux, and cloud infrastructure.

• Set up technical standards, reusable patterns, and delivery playbooks.

• Advocate for AI-forward workflows, reusable tools, and automation practices.

• Collaborate with Sales Engineering, Account Executives, Product, Engineering, Customer Success, and Professional Services on pursuits, escalations, roadmap feedback, and customer delivery.

• Share insights from the field with Product and Engineering to enhance the platform and FDE operations.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8–12+ years of experience in technical, customer-facing delivery roles, such as forward-deployed engineering, solutions engineering, platform engineering, or technical consulting.

• Experience in managing engineers or technical delivery teams, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and career development.

• Strong program and delivery management capabilities, including handling multiple customer accounts, timelines, risks, and priorities concurrently.

• Excellent communication skills with executives, business leaders, engineers, and internal teams.

• Technical expertise in deployment and infrastructure, including Kubernetes, containers, Linux, cloud platforms, and hybrid environments.

• Ability to review technical architecture, comprehend systems and code, challenge assumptions, and support strong technical decisions.

• Experience in leading customer escalations.

• Familiarity with AI-native tools, automation, and contemporary engineering workflows.

• Working knowledge of data security, privacy, governance, or regulatory matters within enterprise environments.

• High-ownership mindset with the capacity to build trust, create structure, and drive results.

• Bonus: Experience with DSPM, CSPM, DLP, data governance, privacy platforms, or related security domains.

• Bonus: Experience leading forward-deployed, professional services, solutions delivery, or technical consulting teams on an enterprise scale.
