This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead the technical strategy for backend APIs, frontend applications, and cloud infrastructure.
• Ensure code adheres to PWS quality benchmarks, including 90% test coverage, no linting errors, and no medium/high security vulnerabilities.
• Oversee the integration with USDA mission systems through clearly defined APIs.
• Guide technology choices utilizing approved tools such as Python, Ruby, JavaScript, and React on the cloud.gov infrastructure.
• Ensure compliance with Zero Trust Architecture (NIST SP 800-207), FIPS 140-2 encryption, and OWASP security standards.
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub and CircleCI.
• Support system documentation, hand-off planning, and requirements for contract transitions.
• Ensure API response times align with performance standards, including CatEx triage under one second.
• Collaborate daily with the Product Owner, Facilitator, and design team.
• Provide support for a federal client on a business and IT modernization initiative for the USDA ERAS Platform.
• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field is required.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in software engineering.
• At least 3 years in a technical lead or senior engineering position.
• Experience in leading development teams on federal government IT projects.
• Strong software engineering foundation with full-stack expertise.
• Experience with cloud-hosted federal systems, preferably cloud.gov.
• Knowledge of agile development methodologies.
• Familiarity with FedRAMP, FISMA, and federal security regulations.
• Experience with microservices architecture and API development.
• Proven experience in cloud-native application development and deployment.
• Experience with agile/scrum methodologies on large-scale software initiatives.
• Ability to secure a Public Trust clearance.
• A Master's degree is preferred.
• Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Professional, or equivalent federal cloud certifications are advantageous.
• Experience in Salesforce development is a plus.
