This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Review, edit, format, and conduct quality control on intricate technical documents and deliverables.
• Assess grammar, spelling, punctuation, clarity, readability, consistency, organization, and technical terminology while maintaining technical intent and accuracy.
• Execute quality reviews across narrative text, tables, figures, appendices, references, acronyms, terminology, units of measure, numbering, and supporting data.
• Conduct document-level QA/QC to detect inconsistencies, missing or conflicting information, formatting issues, and other potential errors prior to client submission.
• Implement client and project style guides, templates, formatting standards, and document control requirements.
• Collaborate with technical personnel to integrate figures and supporting materials into final deliverables.
• Assist in electronic document production, compilation, and delivery.
• Manage multiple documents and priorities while adhering to project schedules and submission deadlines.
• Work alongside environmental scientists, engineers, geologists, project managers, technical specialists, and other project personnel.
• Bachelor’s degree in English, technical communication, communication, journalism, or a related field.
• Strong command of English grammar, punctuation, spelling, syntax, and professional writing standards.
• Ability to edit intricate technical materials for clarity and consistency without changing the technical meaning.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, including features such as track changes, search capabilities, tables, cross-references, and document navigation.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a systematic, repeatable approach to quality control.
• Capability to manage multiple assignments, contributors, review cycles, and deadlines.
• Effective collaboration with technical professionals and the ability to communicate editorial recommendations diplomatically and clearly.
• Eagerness to learn and consistently implement established project procedures and document control practices.
• Ability to fulfill applicable government client and site access requirements.
• Must successfully pass a Public Trust background investigation.
• U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent residency is mandatory.
• Preferred: Master’s degree in English, technical communication, communication, journalism, or a related field.
• Preferred: Experience with extensive, complex technical reports.
• Preferred: Familiarity with SharePoint or other electronic document management and collaboration systems.
• Preferred: Knowledge of environmental investigation and remediation terminology and regulatory programs such as RCRA, CERCLA, or NEPA.
• Preferred: Advanced skills in Microsoft Word.
• Preferred: Academic coursework, internship, practicum, or student publication experience related to environmental, scientific, or engineering subjects.
