This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Oversee the operation, maintenance, security, and optimization of data center infrastructure, enterprise applications, and IT services.
• Manage hardware and software systems, which include servers, storage, virtualization platforms, and peripherals.
• Administer routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, connectivity services, and interconnection solutions.
• Supervise OpenStack and OpenShift environments, focusing on capacity planning, security compliance, and hosted platforms.
• Develop and enforce IT governance, security policies, disaster recovery plans, backup solutions, and operational procedures.
• Guide infrastructure teams through technical direction, performance management, resource planning, and service delivery.
• Conduct performance evaluations, establish goals, assign performance ratings, create individual performance plans, and manage year-end reviews.
• Monitor the performance of infrastructure, applications, and networks using alerting, reporting, and capacity management techniques.
• Manage vendors, contracts, software licenses, asset inventory, procurement, and service-level agreements.
• Promote continuous improvement, track KPIs, prepare executive status reports, and implement operational efficiencies.
• Research emerging technologies and industry best practices to provide strategic recommendations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred).
• More than 5 years of experience in data center maintenance in a technical capacity.
• A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated expertise in hands-on IT roles.
• Over 5 years of experience managing direct reports in a mid-level leadership position, including overseeing performance reviews, employee development goal setting, appraisals, and resolving team escalations.
• Proven experience as an IT Systems Administrator, with expertise in OpenStack, OpenShift, VPN, AWS, Azure, and Office 365.
• Strong knowledge of VMWare.
• Comprehensive understanding of Windows, MacOS, and Linux operating systems, virtualization technologies, and cloud platforms.
• Familiarity with LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VLANs.
• Understanding of cybersecurity practices and data backup and recovery processes.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and complex IT troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical issues to non-technical users.
• Capability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Self-sufficient with a proactive approach.
• Ability to identify solutions to obstacles and navigate through ambiguity.
• Experience in broadband, telecommunications, or infrastructure-as-a-service companies.
